Yes. That is the main flow for test papers: scan the pile you have already marked, and Markpilot reads the awarded marks off each page into the gradebook, half marks included. Anything it is unsure about gets flagged for you to check rather than guessed. Clean scans work best; photographed pages usually work but earn more flags.
Two shapes of marking, for any year or grade. Test papers with marks per question: maths, sciences, commerce and similar. Essays and rubric-marked work, qualitative or quantitative: English essays and drafts, humanities, languages, arts, and rubric-marked tasks in any subject. Any teacher who marks. It is a tool you control and bring to your own work, not something your school has to install, so it fits most naturally where you already choose your own marking workflow, which is most independent, Catholic and international schools, and increasingly government ones too. You stay in charge of your data throughout: you decide how students are named, first names or initials are enough, and everything you create is yours to edit, export or delete. Whether you draft parent comments into your school's reporting system, give students feedback, or just want your practice papers marked and analysed, it works the same way.
Good enough to edit rather than rewrite, and every draft is yours to change. Comments are anchored to the marks on the paper, not invented: a full-marks question can be named as a strength, a lost-marks question becomes a specific next step. Register rules (no clichés, no raw scores read out to parents, no gendered pronouns) are checked and corrected before a draft ever reaches you. When a draft misses, thumb it down with a reason and the toggles let you steer what it talks about.
You control the identifiers: first names or initials are all Markpilot needs, and many teachers use exactly that. We store what the gradebook needs to work across sessions: your roster as you typed it, marks, and the feedback you generate. If you use AI marking, the scanned pages are stored so you can review answers beside the working later; you can delete a student's scans in one click. Papers are processed by our AI provider to do the reading and drafting.
